KarmaBook Privacy Policy
KarmaBook Pty Ltd (ACN 631 006 285) (“we”/”us”/”our”) is a company registered in Australia that provides the social networking platform and services known as KarmaBook in which users have a personal Karma Space and can communicate and share content with other users and participate in an educational game by which users can measure their ‘positive’ and ‘negative‘ deeds or actions and assess the karmic effect of their life journey. ("KarmaBook Platform" and "KarmaBook Services")
The KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook Services can be accessed via our websites located at https://karmabook.com, https://karmabook.com.au and https://karmaplanet.com or via the KarmaBook Applications available from the Apple Appstore or Google Play Store.
KarmaBook is a global social networking platform and welcomes users from around the world. When you use the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook services, the information and content you choose to post on the KarmaBook Platform may be viewed by people anywhere in the world.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and hold Personal Information and the purposes for which we collect, use and disclose Personal Information. This Privacy Policy also explains the rights that you have to access your Personal Information that is held by KarmaBook and seek correction of your Personal Information.
The Personal Information We Collect and Hold
- When you create your KarmaBook Account, we collect from you and hold the following Personal Information:
- Your Name;
- Your Email Address; and
- Any other Personal Information you choose to provide when you create and update your KarmaBook Account. This information may include your date of birth, time of birth, sex, physical attributes, address, occupation, hobbies, personal description, favourite books/movies/music, teachers and idols.
- A KarmaBook Account is required in order for you to create your Karma Space and access the KarmaBook Platform and use the KarmaBook Services. If you do not provide your name or email address, we will not be able to provide you with access to the KarmaBook Platform or KarmaBook Services
- Location data
When you use the KarmaBook Application on a mobile device, we will also collect and hold location data from your mobile device.
- Cookies
When you visit or use The KarmaBook Websites and KarmaBook Applications we may also use Cookies to collect Personal Information in the form of the details of the number of visits and the resources accessed on our websites and applications, including the IP addresses and the location of the devices accessing our websites and applications.
How do we collect your Personal Information?
- We collect your Personal Information directly from you when you create a KarmaBook Account or update your personal details in your Karma Space or access the KarmaBook Platform and use the KarmaBook Services.
- We may also collect your Personal Information when:
- You register for or attend an event, including online events, using the KarmaBook Platform or hosted or sponsored by KarmaBook.
- An existing KarmaBook User invites you to join the KarmaBook Platform by providing your email address and sending you a link to create your KarmaBook Account.
- Other than collecting your email address when another user invites you, KarmaBook does not collect your Personal Information from third parties.
- We also collect your location data when you use the KarmaBook Application on a mobile device. This information is automatically collected from your mobile device unless you have changed your mobile device's settings to not share your location data with the KarmaBook Application.
- We also collect Personal Information when you visit and use the KarmaBook Websites and KarmaBook Applications, by using Cookies, Google analytics and related technologies. Cookies are small text files that are received by your computer which enable us to collect information about the access and use of our websites and applications.
Our purpose for collecting and holding your Personal Information.
- We collect and hold Personal Information that is reasonably necessary for us to carry out one or more of our activities and functions as a supplier of the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook Services.
- The purposes for which we collect and hold Personal Information may include:
- to provide you with access to the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook Services, including enabling you to post content on the KarmaBook Platform from your personal profile and view content posted by other KarmaBook users on the KarmaBook Platform;
- to display your location to other users of the KarmaBook Application whilst you are using the KarmaBook Application;
- to respond and deal with any enquiries, requests or complaints received in relation to posts made by users on the KarmaBook Platform;
- to send notices to you in relation to changes to our services;
- notify you of any programs, conferences, seminars and events or otherwise communicate with you
- to further develop the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook Services; and
- enable you to safely and securely reset the password for your KarmaBook Account.
- Without your Personal Information, we cannot create your KarmaBook Account or provide you with access to the KarmaBook Platform or KarmaBook Services.
- Once you have created your KarmaBook Account, your personal profile will be visible on the KarmaBook Platform to other KarmaBook users. Your personal profile is the part of your Karma Space that can be seen by other users and includes your name, KarmaBook level and any image you select to be your profile picture
- When you post content on the KarmaBook Platform, you will have the option to select which types of user will be able to see the content you post.
Purposes for use and disclosure
- We will use your Personal Information for the purpose for which it was collected. (Primary Purpose)
- We may also use or disclose your Personal Information for other purposes (secondary purposes) that are related to the primary purpose, where:
- you have expressly or impliedly consented to the use or disclosure;
- you would reasonably expect us to use or disclose the information for the secondary purpose;
- the use or disclosure is required or authorised by or under an Australian law or a court/tribunal order or is permitted under Australian privacy laws;
- We may also disclose your Personal Information to third parties including:
- Third party service providers who we engage to enable us to provide the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook Services, such as technology service providers;
- Our legal and professional advisors; and
- Courts, tribunals, and other government departments or agencies where required under Australian Law.
Cookies
- We use cookies to make the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook Services easier for you to access and so that KarmaBook can better understand how you use the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook Services so that it can continue to improve them.
- In particular, KarmaBook uses cookies that:
- Enable your devices to be recognised by our systems so that you do not need to re-enter your log in details each time you open our websites or applications;
- Allow us to know how many users are using the KarmaBook Platform and how they are using it, so that we can continue to develop and improve the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook services.
- You can manage whether your browser accepts Cookies in your browser settings. Disabling the Cookies for the KarmaBook Websites and KarmaBook Applications may have an impact on the functionality of some features of the KarmaBook Websites and KarmaBook Applications.
Disclosure of Personal Information to Overseas Recipients
- When you use the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook services, the information and content you choose to post on the KarmaBook Platform may be viewed by people anywhere in the world.
- We may also disclose your Personal Information to overseas recipients, where such disclosure is required for us to maintain and continue development of the KarmaBook Platform and KarmaBook Services, including to third party developers and a related entity to KarmaBook located in the Ukraine.
How we store your Personal Information
- The Personal Information that we collect and hold is stored in electronic IT systems and databases.

- User authentication and passwords are required by authorised personnel in order to securely access our IT systems and databases on which we hold Personal Information. Our IT systems may include cloud-based servers controlled by us and owned by third party cloud service providers located in Australia.

- We take reasonable steps to hold information securely in electronic form and to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure or use.
- Our third party technology services providers are also required comply with appropriate industry standards for the maintaining the security of our IT systems.
- KarmaBook will hold your Personal Information from the time you create your KarmaBook Account until the time at which you delete your KarmaBook Account. Deleting your KarmaBook Account will permanently delete all data and information posted and uploaded and shared by you using the KarmaBook Services, including your profile name, photos and correspondence history with other KarmaBook Users, other than any data that KarmaBook is legally required to retain under Australian law.
How to Access and Correct your Personal Information
- The Australian privacy laws give you a right to request access to or correction of the Personal Information that we hold about you in certain circumstances.
- It is important that the Personal Information you have provided to us is up-to-date, accurate and complete. You can access and correct all Personal Information we hold at any time by going to “Settings & Preferences” in your Karma Space.
- You can also make a request for us to provide a copy of your Personal Information or correct any of your Personal Information by emailing: privacy@karmabook.com
- We may refuse your request for access or correction of your Personal Information, where the relevant privacy laws allow us to do so. If we refuse your request, we will notify you in writing setting out the reasons for our decision as required by Australian privacy laws.

How you can make a complaint and what we will do
- If you have any concerns about your privacy or seek to make a written complaint to us about how we have handled your Personal Information or that we have not complied with the privacy law, you may use the contact details provided above to submit a written complaint to our Privacy Officer.
- Where you have submitted a written complaint we:
- May request you to provide us with further information so that we can investigate the matter;
- Will investigate the matter and provide you with a written response to your complaint and how it will be dealt with; and
- Will keep a record of your complaint, the information you provide us and investigations undertaken.
- If you are not satisfied with the way KarmaBook has handled your complaint or KarmaBook’s response to your complaint, you may also make a formal complaint to the privacy regulator, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to our Privacy Policy
- This Privacy Policy may be updated and changed from time to time reflect changes in Australian Privacy law or in how KarmaBook manages Personal Information. We will publish an updated Privacy Policy on the KarmaBook Websites and in the KarmaBook App.
